Planets
The our nearest astronomical bodies lie within our solar system, dominated by planets orbiting the sun some of which having their own moons. Objects within the solar system are often measured in AU (Astronomical Units ) that is the distance from Earth to the sun. 1 AU = approximately 8 light minutes = 93, 000 000 miles or 150, 000 000 Kilometers.

StarsThe nearest star to earth is of course the sun, but beyond that it's Proxima Centauri. Whilst the sun is 8 light minutes away, Proxima Centauri is approximately 4.24 light years away (that's ... times as far).
